Heaven is a circle, Earth a square,
and in between her coil of truth unspools

her stones of blue belief disintegrate to pale geometries
that cower under flattened beige and brown...

with the cruelty of an executioner
who pardons freezing men.

At every curb an ice brick's final melting
courses under boots to inundated gutters,

at every light a driver conjures open road
and naked forearms perched on open windows
headed towards an open sky...
