Alexis-Rueal isn't happy unless she is creating something. From writing and performing poetry throughout Columbus to crocheting and painting, she is always looking for new ways to express her view of the world around her. Alexis has written poetry for 20 years and that took a lot out of her to admit that. She earned her BA in English from Ohio State University. She has worked with the disabled, spent time as a stay-at-home wife, and now works in a law firm. (The lawyer jokes are not true.) Her work has appeared in online journals such as All Things Girl, Loch Raven Review, and Vagina: The Zine, among others. In print, she has appeared in Buzzkill: Apocalypse, Some Weird Sin, and VENDING MACHINE. She is a regular performer at the Writers' Block poetry night and was the first runner up at the 2012 Columbus Arts Festival poetry competition.

"Alexis-Rueal writes about writing to find her voice, lost and tangled in the worlds of men and love. Like the taste of 'cheesecake on the end of [her] fork,' this book is sweet and tangy, leaving the reader aching for the next page."   -- Kara Johnston, author of "Map Wrapping Paper Cradle Dangler" and "10 Men"

"She has sizzle!"   -- C.M. Brooks, author of "A Thousand Voices: A City Shaman's Notebook"

"Alexis-Rueal's poetry is a whirlwind of heartbreak and resilience. In this collection, she effortlessly engages readers through the music of her poetry and allows them to take a journey to a soul-bearing, starkly honest place."   -- Athena Dixon, editor-in-chief of Linden Avenue Literary Journal
